Local Grade 2 Student Hosts Lemonade Stand, Raises $96.50 for Meaford Hospital Foundation

A warm Sunday afternoon turned extra sweet thanks to the efforts of a generous young resident. Seven-year-old Scottie Lightfoot, a Grade 2 student at Georgian Bay Community School set up a lemonade stand last weekend with one big goal in mind: helping her community.

With a table, a sign, and a pitcher of homemade lemonade, Scottie welcomed neighbours and passersby to stop for a refreshing drink—raising an impressive $96.50 for the Meaford Hospital Foundation.

I just wanted to help people who go to the hospital,” Scottie said with a proud smile. “And lemonade makes people happy.”

Scottie’s lemonade stand quickly became a local hot spot, drawing in families, dog-walkers, and cyclists alike. Many were delighted to contribute once they heard the cause behind the stand. Some gave extra, knowing their small donation was going toward a meaningful purpose.

It’s always inspiring to see young people getting involved,” said Vince Rogers, Executive Director, “And Scottie’s donation will help us continue to provide top-quality care to the people of Meaford.”

Thank you, Scottie. Your community is grateful—and inspired—by one small girl with a big heart and a big pitcher of lemonade.
