The lawn bowling District 8 Mixed Pairs Playdowns competition was held in Chesley on July 27, and as a result a Meaford lawn bowler will be representing the district at the provincial competition August 10/11 in Woodstock.
Jill Calvert Goetz of Meaford partnered with Travis Anderson, representing Chesley, in the competition. There were eight teams from various clubs and all played three 14-end games on Saturday. Their only loss was to fellow Meaford representatives Brad and Christine Tichbourne.
Jill and Travis, with three other teams, moved on to the semi-finals and playoff rounds on Sunday. They won their semi-final game against a Chesley team and then defeated Chesley/Hanover in the championship game.
