Dear Editor,
Regarding the pros and cons of the pumped storage proposal: The major pro is that the energy generated overnight by the nuclear plants is wasted, so this plan can save it for use next day. The con to that is that in 4 years time (amount of time needed for construction) there will already be many more electric vehicles in the province, and they will all be recharging overnight, using that surplus power, and those numbers will keep increasing.
So the main purpose of the facility will gradually become irrelevant and we will still be stuck with all the cons: degradation of lake and landscape, harm to fish habitat, and the risk of catastrophic flooding increasing as time goes on. And we the taxpayers paying for it and a private corporation reaping the profits.
Thank you for providing a forum for this controversy.
