Four Knights Players Earn Spot on All Star Team

Submitted by Kathy Adams, Knights of Meaford Administration and Billeting Coordinator

Bancroft Rockhounds hosted the 2022/23 Greater Metro Hockey League (GMHL) All-Star games on January 17. There are 26 teams in the GMHL. Players are selected by the league. This year, four Meaford Knights were selected – Cody Gibbons and Riley Lavallee for the Prospects Game, and Declan Flanagan and Tomas Coupek for the All-Star Game.

The event started out with a luncheon for all players, coaches, and event staff. We were honoured to have with us guest speaker Brady Leavold, the founder of Puck Support, an organization that focuses on supporting hockey players through addiction and mental health issues.

Cody Gibbons and Riley Lavallee played on Team White in the Under 18 game. Final score: Team White 6, Team Dark 3. Our boys performed well. Riley contributed one assist.

The Under 21 game ended with a win for Team White over Team Dark, 12-6. Thomas Coupek and Declan Flanagan had excellent performances. They made a large contribution to the win, Thomas earning five points with two goals and three assists, and Declan, four points with one goal and three assists.

The Knights are proud of the contributions our players made to these games.

The Knights are owned by Sabine Cholet. This season we celebrate ten years as a team in Meaford. Currently the Knights are sitting in third place.

The Knights invite you to come out on Thursday evenings to their home games and support the team as we head very soon into the playoff season.

Go Knights Go!
