The upcoming Municipal Election to elect one Mayor, one Deputy Mayor, five Councillors, and School Board Trustees will take place in October 2022.
Nominations will open on Monday, May 2, 2022, and may be filed in person or by an agent in the Office of the Clerk between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, prior to Nomination Day (Friday August 19, 2022) and between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Nomination Day. A prescribed fee in the amount of $200 for Mayor and $100 for all other candidates is payable by cash, debit, certified cheque, or money order. The endorsement of at least 25 persons must accompany the nomination form. Appointments are strongly recommended.
If you plan to seek office in the 2022 Municipal Elections for Municipal Council, you must file a Nomination Form with the Municipal Clerk before soliciting or accepting contributions for election purposes or incurring expenses on campaign activities.
Third party advertisers are required to register with the Clerk of the municipality where they want to advertise. A third party advertiser is any individual, corporation, or trade union that causes an election campaign advertisement to appear. Registrations of third party advertisers will be accepted between Monday, May 2, 2022 and Friday, October 21, 2022. Until the Clerk certifies the registration, a third party advertiser may not spend money on their campaign, accept contributions, or begin advertising. The registration form will be available from the office of the Clerk.
