By the end of October, the Municipality of Meaford issued 182 building permits in 2015, with construction values totally nearly $19 million, a significant increase over the 163 permits with construction values of just $10 million issued in the same period last year.
Twenty-two of the building permits issued were for residential homes, while 44 permits have been issued for renovations or additions so far this year. Seven permits for multi-residential construction (16 individual units) have been issued thus far in 2015, while 18 permits were issued for agricultural building projects valued at more than $1.5 million.
At the November 9 meeting of council, Deputy Mayor Harley Greenfield told council that the numbers for 2015 were impressive.
“I think it’s just amazing progress, and shows that people want to invest in this community,” Greenfield told council.
