The 24th Annual Spring Quilt Show at Meaford United Church will be featured on Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18. Doors open at 10:00 am both days.

The quilt show has grown each year over its near quarter century existence. The very first show attracted approximately 100 visitors, while last year more than 300 attended.

The church sanctuary along with some smaller spaces will display 50 quilts for the show.

People love quilts and making them proves that quilting is not a dying form of folk art. Quilts are a great part of our rural heritage. What used to be made for warmth is now so appealing it has turned into a work of art,” said organizers.

The library of the church will showcase smaller quilted decorator items such as place-mats, cushions, and wall hangings for viewing. This year in the church parlour, demonstrations of knitting and weaving and others will be held.

The theme of quilt show this year is “Music, Music, Music!”

When entering the show each visitor is given a ballot to vote for the Viewer’s Choice Awards. These ballots are tallied up and a Gift Certificate will be presented to the winners in three categories –

Best hand Quilted

Best Machine Quilted

Best Quilted Small Item

Admission is $5.00 each day, and a lunch is served from eleven until one for $5.00. Tea, coffee, and cookies are available in the afternoon.
