On Monday, March 2, 2015 at approximately 6:43 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on the 16th Side-road in the Municipality of Meaford after an unknown female, operating a Ford pick-up truck, repeatedly backed into the caller’s parked vehicle in an effort to extricate her vehicle from a snow bank. Despite demanding the driver to stop, the suspect managed to extricate her vehicle and left the scene.
While investigating the motor vehicle collision, police received a report of an intoxicated female who attended a residence on the 12th Line, operating a Ford pick-up truck with its front tire missing, asking for assistance. Neither the lone driver nor her passenger; a four month old baby, were injured.
Police attended the scene and determined that the female, identified as the driver of the Ford pick-up truck, had been drinking alcohol. She was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Meaford OPP Detachment for breath tests.
The 33 year old Port Elgin woman was charged with impaired driving and over 80 mgs. She was also charged with driving while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
She is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, April 2, 2015.
