Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is in full swing with National Collection Week only a week away (November 16-22).
“We hope that many of you will again be participating in filling an Operation Christmas Child shoe box. In many countries boys and girls are unable to attend school if they don’t have the necessary school supplies,” said organizers.
This season Canadian shoe box gifts will be sent to northern Canada, West Africa, and Central America.
“With pandemic restrictions worldwide, many children are suffering with food shortages and social isolation. It is more important than ever to reach out to show these little ones that we care and they are not forgotten,” said Anne Hahn, local Connect volunteer.
If you can’t/don’t want to shop this year, please know that monetary donations to help pay for the shipping of boxes would be greatly appreciated. You can also pack your shoe box online.
Boxes are available in many locations, including Home Hardware in Hanover. Boxes are being collected in three central locations this year – Owen Sound, Port Elgin, and Hanover.
To get more information or find your nearest location to pick up or drop off a box, just type ‘Operation Christmas Child’ into your browser and it will take you to the site. Or call 519-373-2063.
