Scarecrow Invasion Canceled Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Staff

Meaford’s Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival will not happen this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This week, Event Chair Donna Earl announced the executive’s decision to cancel, stating the health and well-being of community volunteers as one of the main reasons for the cancellation.

Typically volunteers would be collecting used clothing and props at this time of the year and coming together in May to start the process of building hundreds of scarecrows,” she said. “Instead, we encourage our volunteers to practise social distancing, to stay home, stay safe, and plan on coming together this time next year.

For now, we need to step back and recharge. The Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival will be marking its 25th anniversary in 2021. We have that to look forward to.”
