On July 28, at 1:21 am, Grey Bruce OPP were dispatched to a collision involving an SUV and a bicycle on the 7th Line, between Highway 26, and Grey Road 12 in Meaford.
OPP officers were assisted at the scene by Grey County Paramedicas and the Meaford Fire Department. The 7th Line was closed for a period of time during the investigation. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended to assist with the investigation.
The 24 year old male cyclist was transported by ambulance to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The male driver of the black SUV was arrested at the scene.
Grey County OPP have charged 35 year old William Flor, of Meaford with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired causing death, section 320.14(3) Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused has been released on a recognizance with a court date of August 15, 2019 for Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
