The 4th annual Hockey Hits Cancer charity tournament returns to the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre this weekend.
The event is organized by former Knights of Meaford player Mackenzie Fleming in memory of his grandparents, Anne and Alex Fleming, with proceeds going to A Child’s Voice Foundation.
Roughly a dozen teams will compete on the ice between March 23 and 25, and spectators will have plenty of opportunity to contribute to the cause off the ice with a raffle and silent auction which will include more than 40 items valued at $100 or more.
In previous years the event has featured a spaghetti dinner, but this year organizers have changed things up with an offering of a bowl of homemade chili and a bun for $5 on Saturday, March 24.
