75 Employers Confirmed For Regional Job Fair

The 2018 Regional Job Fair is only days away and more than 75 employers from throughout the region will be on site recruiting. The event is happening on February 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Harry Lumley Community Bayshore (Arena Floor) in Owen Sound.

We have a great list of employers attending the event this year and they are eager to find new employees to fill gaps in their workforce,” said Steve Furness, Senior Economic Development Officer with Grey County. “We’ve been told some of the employers will consider hiring on the spot so we’ve arranged interview stations right at the event. Job seekers should be prepared and bring many resumes.”

Committed employers include Aecon, Exceldor Foods, Grey Bruce Health Services, Blue Mountain Resort, Transcontinental RBW Graphics, Bruce Power and many more. Employers have more than 950 jobs. Sample positions include architects, early childhood educators, engineers, labourers, landscape designers, millwrights, security guards, technicians and more. A list of employers and positions is available on the County of Grey Facebook page, or online at www.Grey.ca/.

Getting to Owen Sound can be challenging for some job seekers. Grey County has arranged a shuttle from various locations in Southern Grey. Stops include: 11:30 a.m. at Tim Hortons in Hanover, 12:00 p.m. at Tim Hortons in Durham, 12:45 p.m. at the Dundalk post office, 1:10 p.m. at the RE/MAX parking lot in Flesherton and 1:30 p.m. at the IDA pharmacy in Markdale. The van is expected to reach the Bayshore shortly after 2:00 p.m. and will depart at 5:15 p.m.

Reservations are required and space is limited. To book a rode, contact Mark at 519 376 7112 ext.1350 before 9:00 a.m. on February 28.

We have employers coming from all over the region, not just Owen Sound. We understand how important it is to give job seekers in the southern end of Grey County an opportunity to come to the fair, meet with employers and apply for jobs,” Grey County Warden Stewart Halliday.

There are still spaces available for employers who are interested in attending the fair. The cost per booth is only $50 to help offset organizing costs. Booths can be reserved through a link on the homepage of www.Grey.ca.

The Regional Job Fair is a collaborative event supported by Grey County, the YMCA Owen Sound, Employment Ontario, Georgian College, the Business Enterprise Centre and the Four County Labour Market Planning Board.
