Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
As a frequent visitor to Meaford, Ontario, I just wanted to take a few moments and write about how great the town is. Too many times when I am visiting and I read the “Letters to the Editor” section of the Meaford Independent I see negative comments and reviews about the town. I don’t live there so I am sure there are things I am not aware of and cannot comment on but each time I visit I am pleasantly surrounded by the beauty of the town and the hospitality of the people who live there.
First I would like to start by saying that Meaford’s landscape and scenery are beautiful. Walking along the water is so peaceful and there are many outdoor trails you can enjoy and take in the natural surroundings.
Meaford also has many wonderful establishments that I visit each time I am in the area. The Leeky Canoe is a great place to enjoy a few cold ones while eating delicious food. The staff and locals are so friendly that I can’t help but feel that I am back home in Newfoundland where everyone knows everybody and people smile and wave at each other.
Suzie’s Place is another place that I love. I have eaten breakfast here time and time again and each time the food and service has been phenomenal. The staff is always super friendly and approachable. They really make me feel warm and welcomed.
Howard Florist and Greenhouses is another fantastic place to check out. The staff at that place is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to all my green thumb needs. On top of that, the place always smells like a beautiful Spring day, even in the middle of the sometimes harsh Winter.
Grandma Lambe’s in absolutely incredible. I cannot drive through Meaford without stopping in to buy a scrumptious pie or a jar of mouth-watering jam. This place is an absolute gem.
These are just a few of the many wonderful places in Meaford. To top it all off the residents of Meaford have always proven to be so friendly. As I mentioned earlier, it reminds me of my hometown in Newfoundland where neighbours are neighbourly and everyone is willing to lend a hand.
Again, I am sure there are things I am not aware of but I feel that Meaford Ontario is a beautiful town and it should be praised as such. Like any city or town there are going to be areas that need improvement, but while focusing on those I think we also bring forth the positives.
