Obituary
August 11, 1938 – February 27, 2017
With heavy hearts, the family of Gerry announces his passing on Monday, February 27, 2017, with loving family by his side,at Meaford hospital. He was in his 79th year.
Beloved husband of Barbara Dunn/Hawes and loving father of Kelly (John) Riddell, Cambridge, Brad and Wade Hawes of Paris, Ont. Stepfather to Chris Dunn (Ann), Colleen Dunn, Leanne Ament (Joe) and Trevor Dunn.
Cherished Grandpa of Stephen Riddell, Sarah, Reid and Adam Hawes, and step-grandpa to Cassondra and Victoria Wilson, Spencer and Clinton Close, Zachary and Luka Ament. Gerry was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor Campbell, and grandson Blair Ridddell.
Gerry loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Amateur Ham Radio operator. He had a special place in his heart for animals and most importantly his “Best Buddy” Jed, his devoted companion.
His bravery, determination and strength carried him through some very challenging health issues, but he always had a smile.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service at Ayr cemetery will follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements are through Corbett Funeral Home, Cambridge, Ont.
Our thanks to the incredibly caring doctors and nursing staff at Grey Bruce Health Services, Meaford, with a special thanks to Dr. Natalie Sauriol. Gerry truly appreciated the special talents and thoughtfulness of each one of you.
