Winter Weather Better in Some Parts of Canada

Letter to the Editor

Mr. Editor,

Please include all of Canada in your moans about the weather. I know it’s atrocious in Meaford for far too long each year. Those icy winds off the bay persist well into late spring. The almost daily sprinkling of snow leaves the environment damp and slippery underfoot for weeks on end.

But not all Canadians are tormented by foul weather. Out here on the left coast, in glorious Vancouver Island the sun is shining, daffodils are almost in flower, crocuses are blooming in some gardens and rhododendron buds are bulging.

Oh, yes – and its around 11C most days. As I write it’s minus 14 in Meaford: that’s a spread of 25C. I’ll say it again for you poor snow shovellers – a difference of twenty five degrees Celsius.

So we didn’t, with some regret mind you, leave Meaford just on account of the taxes (and one of the unsuccessful mayoral candidates btw) but also to seek out the glorious seaside environment and the sensible climate.

So come on out to the Island, you moaners; there’s plenty of room, and a bit outside delightful Victoria, house prices are similar to the towns around Meaford.

Oh, yes, and garbage pick up is free. Sorry!
