A wide selection of items and once-in-a-lifetime experiences will be up for grabs in the silent auction, open for bidding from 1 – 9 pm on December 11, 12 and 13 (final bids at intermission on the 13th). Auction items include stunning holiday wreaths for the home, an afternoon at the Queen’s Plate, a horse-drawn sleigh ride for 10, Lora Bay and Georgian Bay Club golf memberships, ski passes, a sightseeing airplane ride over Grey Bruce, dinner-and-a-show packages and much more. A full list of prizes is being continually updated at mhcfoundation.ca.
The grand finale of the Christmas Celebration takes place Saturday, December 13 at 8 pm with a concert performance by one of Canada’s most beloved male vocalists, Matt Dusk. His music career to date has resulted in 4 critically-acclaimed studio albums, with his latest release My Funny Valentine: The Chet Baker Songbook paying tribute to one of the most popular musicians of the twentieth century. Dusk is an alumnus of the St. Michael’s Choir School and studied under jazz piano legend Oscar Peterson at York University. His concert at Meaford Hall promises to be an intimate and unforgettable experience. Tickets are available for $45 through the Meaford Hall Box Office at 1.877.538.0463, in person at 12 Nelson Street or online at meafordhall.ca.
The MHCF, the organizers behind the popular Meaford International Film Festival, play a significant role in Meaford’s cultural community. In addition to assisting Meaford Hall with capital improvement projects, they are particularly focused on ensuring local youth have opportunities to develop and showcase their talents. Among its other initiatives in 2014, the Foundation sponsored a French film festival for students; the productions of Andrew Gawley: The Man With SteelHands and Beautiful Joe; Dragons’ Den Meaford; the Georgian Bay Idol finale, and the Georgian Bay Youth Orchestra recital.
