RIDE Stop Catches Impaired Driver

On Friday, October 10, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on the 4 th Sideroad at the 3 rd Line in the Municipality of Meaford.

Officers observed a 2005 Toyota pick-up truck cross the centre lane and hit the gravel on the opposite side of the road as it approached the check point.  The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.  A container of alcohol was observed in the console of the vehicle.  The driver was arrested for impaired driving and brought to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for breath tests.

The 55 year old Meaford man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 milligrams.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, October 23, 2014.
