A popular dance school that draws participants from Wasaga Beach, Thornbury, and Meaford is taking on new students for their fall program.
Registration for fall classes ends October 15, though the school will be taking new students in January as well.
Over the past eight years the school has grown, Director Galen Ireland has passed her expertise down to her students, many of whom are now teaching and assisting with classes. Two in particular, Dee and Alyssa Service, are now working with her as full time teachers at the Thornbury studio and the new Wasaga Beach studio.
The School has been very successful at several competitions (Luv to Dance and Dance Canada). While students work hard and the competitions are taken very seriously, they also have a lot of fun. They learn the meaning of teamwork and form lasting friendships. Students and parents become a family during the competitive season.
As much as Ireland takes pride in the competitive team, the recreational students are the core of the studio and it is with them that it all begins. The teachers make the classes fun, challenging, and upbeat. So if you have a little ballet dancer twirling around your living room, an agile child constantly doing cartwheels and moving to the beat of the music, or a teenager who loves to get down to hip hop music, Galen Ireland’s is the place for your child.
Ireland is a full member of the Cecchetti Society – Cecchetti method is used by the National Ballet of Canada. She is a certified CDTA jazz, acro, and tap. She has had nothing but success putting her students through exams in all these styles. She also offers hip hop and has studied with Luther Brown, Twitch, and Boneless, who has been a guest choreographer and done workshops at the studio.
This season there will be three recitals held at Meaford Hall – a Christmas Recital featuring the recreational students, a Comp Team show in March, and the Year End Spring Recital at the end of May.
