Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on Hwy 6/10

opp logo270On August 24, at approximately 8:03 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle on Hwy. 6 & 10 in the Municipality of Meaford.

The pedestrian was walking northbound on the paved portion of the roadway, north of Sunny Valley Road, when he was struck by a 2005 Ford E450 delivery truck which was also travelling northbound. Several motorists stopped to assist the injured person.

The pedestrian, a 54-year old man from Acton, was transported via ambulance to hospital in Owen Sound with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 24 year old man from Grimsby, was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) and the Inter-Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
