Despite some uncooperative weather and a minor delay in opening, it appeared the hundreds of people who tried out the first-ever “urban slide” event in Meaford had a blast on Saturday July 9.
More than 100 people were waiting for their turn on the slide by 10 am, having made the trek up “Hospital Hill” on Nelson Street.
The enormous thousand-foot slide opened for traffic just before 10:30 and the fun began.
Even Meaford’s mayor, Barb Clumpus, and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker got in on the wet-n-wild fun. Walker joked “the things I’ll do for a lot of votes” as he dashed up the hill carrying his tube.
The organizers at 365 Sports pledged all of the proceeds will go toward supporting the Meaford Hospital Foundation.
