MIFF Ends with a Bang and a Record

Staff

The eighth  annual Meaford International Film Festival wrapped up  four  nights of films and parties on a high note with a record number of tickets sales and the announcement of the winner of the Pomme d’Or, the people’s choice award.

The vote for the Pomme d’Or  was extremely close with a film from Belgium taking the Audience Choice award by 0.1 of a percentage point. The final results were “Finding Vivian Maier” 4.2 out of 5,  The Selfish Giant 4.3, The Lunchbox 4.4 and the winner, The Broken Circle Breakdown 4.5

I’m extremely gratified by the results,” said MIFF artistic Director Christopher Thomas. “It  means that every film was well received and the choices I made this year worked – that means a lot to me.”

MIFF organizers were also thrilled with the fact that ticket sales surpassed all previous records.

It’s a good sign that people love the fact that we offer a chance to see something that will challenge and inspire them,” said Meaford Hall and Cultural Foundation chair Rod MacAlpine.

Proceeds from MIFF go to sponsoring cultural events at Meaford Hall and our  Community.
