OPP Issue Reminder After Area Resident Scammed

OPPLogoGrey County Ontario Provincial Police  (OPP) are reminding residents to be aware of the “over-payment” scam after a Municipality of Grey Highlands resident was scammed of $987 on Friday, October 2.

The 54-year old victim replied to a job offer for a “Mystery Shopper”.  She was sent a bank draft in the amount of $2256 and was instructed to return $987 via Western Union, which she did.  When the bank draft didn’t clear, she realized she had been scammed of $987.
