On Thursday, September 24, at approximately 5:26 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a fail to remain motor vehicle collision on Sykes Street North, in the Municipality of Meaford, which resulted in the arrest of a Town of Blue Mountains man.

The investigation revealed that prior to the collision the accused had been driving his vehicle, a GMC Envoy, erratically, passing vehicles unsafely, on Hwy. 26 west-bound from Thornbury.

After exchanging words with a driver of a Honda Civic, who confronted him about his driving behaviour, the accused then proceeded to tailgate the Honda which came to a stop at the intersection of Sykes Street and Nelson Street in Meaford.  The two drivers once again exchanged words.  The GMC struck the driver’s side bumper of the Honda as it drove around the Honda and then proceeded through a red light.  The GMC continued westbound on Sykes Street (Hwy. 26) where it was eventually stopped by police.

A 26 year old man from the Town of Blue Mountains, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle under the Criminal Code.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, October 29, 2015.
