OPP Release

car lock Gary Scott

On Wednesday, November 20, at approximately 7:41 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle on Greenfield Drive in the Municipality of Meaford.

While investigating the incident, officers found that three other vehicles had been entered some time overnight.  All vehicles were unlocked.  A briefcase containing personal items, loose change and other miscellaneous items were stolen.

Grey County OPP is reminding the public that theft from vehicles is a crime of opportunity.  An unlocked door or an open window is an invitation to thieves.  You can prevent these thefts by remembering to always roll up the windows, lock the doors, and keep valuables out of plain view.  Remember – “Lock it or Lose it”.

Crime prevention starts with you.  Report any suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles to police.  To contact the Grey County OPP, call 1-888-310-1122.  Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a Web Tip to www.crimestop-gb.org.   You may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
