Reader Concerned About Cemetery Swans

Letter to the Editor

Dear Sir,

I made my first visit to the Meaford Cemetery recently. I was completely wowed with the upkeep of it everywhere. Such a beautiful surprise but as I was walking around I happened to come upon the Swans. My disappointment overwhelmed me!

They are living and swimming in a swamp filled with green slimy water. The one tiny fountain in the middle is not near enough powerful to move the water to keep it from becoming stagnant. The debris of branches and logs should be cleaned out not just for health reasons to the swans but to beautify what could be a lovely peaceful area that would make visitors want to stop and sit a while.

My lovely visit was marred by the eyesore of the dirty habitat these swans must live in everyday.

Regards,

S. L. Hawley, Meaford
