The community is invited to the 100 Year Anniversary Celebration of the Meaford Public Library on Saturday, February 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Meaford Public Library.
On Monday, February 8, 1926, the former Town of Meaford Council passed a by-law to authorize the establishment of a Public Library in the Town of Meaford with a board of trustees. At the time, the library was in the ‘new’ town hall (what is now Meaford Hall Arts and Cultural Centre).
“The Meaford Public Library is now a state-of-the-art facility located at 11 Sykes Street North, Meaford. We are thrilled to be hosting a party to celebrate the 100-year anniversary with the community,” said library staff.
There will be music by Lynda and Will Henry from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., cake, snacks, and speeches from 12 – 1 p.m., and music by the Ukulele Sista’s from 1 – 2 p.m.
“We will also be sharing a brief history of the Meaford Public Library, offering giveaways, and plenty of fun,” said organizers.
