Youth Summer Programs at the OSNGUPL

Come to the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library this summer to register for the TD Summer Reading Club and participate in a variety of free programs.

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library will be hosting a launch party for the TD Summer Reading Club on Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m. Youth set their reading goal, take part in crafts, and can enjoy a cool, refreshing drink. Families who miss the launch party are welcome to register at any point throughout the summer.

With programs for youth of all ages, the Library is a great place to visit this summer. Spaces for some of these programs are limited. To find out more, visit the Library or call 519-376-6623 ext. 5221.

Help design and build a dragon that will guard Youth Services all summer during the two-day ‘A Dragon in the Library’ program on Monday, July 4 and Friday, July 8, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Help build the dragon using papier mâché and decorate it with a variety of materials!

Weekly Wacky Wednesday programs run from 2 – 3:30 p.m. for 8 weeks in July and August. From training to be a medieval knight to creating your own fairy tale, there is something to interest everyone. To register email ysinfo@library.osngupl.ca or call 519-376-6623 ext. 5221.

The youngest Library members and their parents can check out weekly Story Tent programs on Tuesdays from July 5 to August 16, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Babytime also makes an appearance this summer on Thursdays from July 7 to August 18, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Come out with your little ones for stories, songs, and activities.

The Library will be running a six-week Scratch coding workshop on Thursdays from July 14 to August 18, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Children will work from the very basics of Scratch to creating their own games.

Teens can sharpen their DIY skills by visiting the Library for the Cricut Crafternoon on Thursday, July 7, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Learn to create decals and iron-on transfers to decorate t-shirts, mugs, water bottles, and canvas totes.

For board game fun at the Library, teens can join the Speed Gaming – Board Game Night on Tuesday, August 2, 6:30 – 8 p.m. Learn new games and meet new people!

Summer LEGO Club, Tech Petting Zoos, and two virtual Scientists in School workshops round out the Library’s summer offerings for youth. Details for all of these programs can be found on the Library’s website: www.owensound.library.on.ca.
