For over a century, Meaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre has been one of the busiest hubs in the Southern Georgian Bay area. This historic venue, featuring exquisite acoustics, continues to deliver great entertainment all year round and is proud to be presenting a stellar lineup of 100% Canadian talent.
Meaford Hall kicks off its April programming with the very talented Catherine MacLellan on Friday, April 4. MacLellan has been captivating audiences around the world with her music for more than twenty years. Born and raised in the idyllic province of Prince Edward Island, Catherine’s songs reflect her deep connection to the land and the people that call it home. Her passion for songwriting runs in the family: her father, Gene MacLellan, wrote beloved hits like Snowbird and Put Your Hand in the Hand.
On Thursday, April 17, Indigenous singer/songwriter and Juno award winner Celeigh Cardinal will set the stage ablaze with her powerful voice and storytelling that have earned her widespread acclaim. Her third studio album, Boundless Possibilities, released in June 2024, marks a turning point in her career, an odyssey through the raw landscapes of grief, the triumphant peaks of independence, and the sacred valleys of spirituality. Anchored by its luminous standout track, Light of the Moon, which earned her the 2024 Songwriter of the Year award at the Western Canadian Music Awards, the album is a radiant testament to her lyrical mastery. Boundless Possibilities was also entered in the first round of voting for a potential Grammy nomination, garnered two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, and was up for two Junos in 2025.
Wrapping up the Hall’s April presentations is award winning artist John Wort Hannam on Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. Hannam has been on his folk and roots-fuelled troubadour journey for two decades, spinning song-writing gold from the chaff of the lives he has encountered and those within his fertile imagination. Twenty-two years in, he shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, he’s gaining both momentum and a wider audience, winning two 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Solo Artist of the Year and Contemporary Album of the Year. Add to this, a Juno Award nomination, a Kerrville New Folk Win, a previous Canadian Folk Music Award, and it’s easy to see why audiences and critics alike hear something special in his narrative and lyrically driven songs.
