Strong Performances for Coyotes at XC Champs


The Meaford Coyotes Track Club sent 18 members to the 2014 Athletics Ontario Cross Country Championships held in Niagara Falls on Sunday, November 16th. Cool temperatures and light snow cover welcomed many of the top distance runners in Ontario as the runners made their way around a relatively flat course at Fireman's Park.

Lightning Bantam Girls Lose Another Close One

Georgian Shores LightninglogoThe Georgian Shores Lightning Scenic Caves girl’s bantam hockey team hosted the TCDMHA Rebels from the Chatsworth area on Friday, November 14 at the Meaford Arena.

The teams were very evenly matched with no score after two periods. Each team’s defence broke up many offence plays with notable defensive Lightning plays by Devyn Cochrane, Millie Hannan, Jayli Brown, and Joren Wilcox.

Invitational Men’s Bonspiel a Big Success


The first major men’s curling took place this month, the men’s invitational, sponsored by Cliff Richardson Boats Ltd.  The event boasted a full slate of curlers from many clubs and the event was hotly contested, however in the end the Barrie Curling Club won the day quite handily.

The Ontario Minor Track Association held its Provincial Cross Country Championships in Guelph at the Arboretum on Saturday, October 25th under perfect weather conditions on a relatively dry hilly course.
