The “On Air for Healthcare” Radiothon, hosted by Lite 99.3fm on Saturday, December 21, raised $90,000 in support of the Meaford Hospital Foundation. The funds will be used to purchase a new ventilator for the hospital, enhancing critical care services for the community.
Listeners and community members participated through a combination of phone-in, online, and in-person donations, responding to special challenges and matching donation opportunities throughout the event. The generous outpouring of support exceeded expectations, and the final total raised will directly impact the hospital’s ability to provide life-saving care.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by our community,” said Wendy Moffat at Lite 99.3fm. “The success of the ‘On Air for Healthcare’ Radiothon was due to the incredible support we received from listeners, local businesses, and our sponsors. The money raised will go directly toward purchasing a new ventilator, which is a vital piece of equipment for patient care at Brightshores Meaford Hospital.”
The event would not have been possible without the sponsorship of Straw Hat Renovations, McDonald’s Furniture, JA Custom Homes, Back 40 Glamping, Meaford Outlet Store, Franny’s Mercato, Godard’s Independent, and The Dam Pub, whose contributions helped make the Radiothon a huge success.
“We are deeply grateful to all of our volunteers, including Wendy and JD at Lite 99.3fm, who helped bring this event to life,” said Vince Rogers, Executive Director at Meaford Hospital Foundation. “The support we received will ensure that we can provide the highest level of care to our patients, and it shows the power of a community coming together for a shared cause.”
The “On Air for Healthcare” Radiothon has now become an annual event, and organizers are already looking forward to next year’s campaign. This year’s success lays the foundation for continued growth in the years to come, ensuring that Meaford Hospital can continue to provide excellent healthcare services to the community.
“I’m very proud of the skilled team of healthcare professionals who provide high-quality care to our neighbours, friends and families in Meaford and the surrounding area,” said Ann Ford, President & CEO, Brightshores Health System. “The Brightshores Meaford Hospital plays an important role locally and in our regional healthcare system, and we can’t thank you enough for your generosity and support.”
