Kenneth Charles Woods passed away peacefully at Calgary South Campus Hospital on July 3, 2025.
Ken was born in Toronto on August 5, 1929. Predeceased by Mary, his dear wife of sixty years, parents Quartus and Greta Woods, and sister Shirley McKim.
Ken loved nature and was truly a man for all seasons. His quick wit and wry sense of humour were his hallmark traits. As well, he showed compassion for others and knew that giving back to one’s community was of great importance. He moved through life quietly but left a lasting impression.
Ken’s work life in Sales took him to many parts of southwestern Ontario and North Bay where he and Mary made lifelong friendships along the way. Ken retired in 2000 and he and Mary moved to Meaford, ON, where they continued their active lifestyle. Ken donated much of his free time to the Meaford Rotary Club. In 2019, they moved to Calgary, AB, to be closer to their children and settled in The Journey Club. Ken enjoyed the social aspect of The Journey and loved to participate in pool games and rummy cube.
Ken will be dearly missed by his loving family. He leaves daughter Lisa Woods, Whistler, BC, and son Tom (Dianne) Woods, Calgary, AB. Ken will always be the loving Poppie to grandchildren Dana (Mark) Webb Toronto, ON; Heidi Schott (Andrew Merski), Oakland, CA; Graham (Emily)Woods, Calgary, AB; and Evan (Mackenzie) Woods, Calgary, AB. Ken leaves two adoring great-grandchildren, Astrid, Oakland, CA, and Austin, Toronto, ON.
