Obituary: Vaughan, Marie ‘Cecile’

Cecile passed away peacefully at Errinrung Nursing Home with family by her side on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in her 99th year.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on January 19, 1926, Cecile was the daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (nee LaFrance) Gobeil.

She was predeceased by her husbands Lloyd Myers and Murray Vaughan.

Cecile was the beloved mother of Frank Myers (late Beverley) and Irene McGuire (late David); was predeceased by her children Mary Heggtveit, Preston Myers and Stephen Myers, and will be fondly remembered by her son-in-law Gib Heggtveit and daughter-in-law Lisa Myers.

Cecile was the proud grandma of Christopher Myers (Carol), Trisha McCall (Jay Krekorian), Sylvie McGowan (Scott), Toby Myers (Angie), Victoria McGuire (Mark), Bill Myers, Mary Myers (Lisa), Craig Myers (Emily), Heather Anderson (Dan), ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was the dear sister of Jack Mace (Donna), and was predeceased by her sister Irene Loree (late Stuart) and will be fondly remembered by her niece, nephew, great-nephew and by her extended family.

La belle Cecile had a mischievous twinkle in her eye which conveyed her ‘joie de vivre’. Her ready smile lit up any room and put people at ease. Cecile’s superpower was her upbeat, positive outlook on life. Regarding any problem, you would hear her say, “Things will look better in the morning, after a good night’s sleep.”

Over the years, Cecile lived and raised her family in different locations and communities throughout Ontario, including St. Catharines, Vineland, and Meaford. Wherever her family lived, Cecile provided the love and care that made it home. As her children moved away and started their own families, Cecile’s home remained the preferred family gathering place for get-togethers and celebrations.

Cecile enjoyed the simple pleasures her Meaford country property provided. You would see her stylishly dressed and adorned with a neckerchief working in her flower gardens, yard, and beyond in her forest. She delighted in bringing home treasures of antique furniture and all things beautiful and sparkly. Cecile loved dancing, music, reading, rug hooking, quilting, friends dropping by, and reminiscing about her home town, Pine Falls, Manitoba.

Other pastimes Cecile enjoyed included being a Sara Coventry Jewelry Hostess, Mary Kay Consultant, Reiki Master, and Reflexologist.

Cecile’s family wish to express their gratitude to Dr. Sauriol and Errinrung Long Term Care staff for all their years of care and compassion.

A celebration of Cecile’s life will take place in the warmer months when family and friends can gather together.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society or treetrust.ca would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON, N4L 1B9, to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
