Dorothy, daughter of the late Grenville and Dora (Robinson) Cook, passed away peacefully Monday, July 29, 2024, at Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound after a brief illness.
She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Richardson in 1954 and Frederick J. Pillgrem in 1994.
Dorothy was the cherished mother of David (Susan) Richardson. She was the much-loved grandmother of Kelly (Mark) Woodhouse and dear great-grandmother of Sawyer, Marly, and Nixon Woodhouse.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Alan (Leanne) Cook and by sisters-in-law Lois (late Murray) Cook, Shirley (late Fred) Cook, and Olive (late Alan) Richardson. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews – Judy (Laurie) Hill, Jennifer (Bill) Pearson, Jane (Wayne) Vollett, Jeffrey Cook (Teresa Gillard), Mark (Yvonne) Richardson, Cameron Hill (Elicia Cann), Brett (Danielle) Richardson, Stefan (Meaghan) Richardson, and their families. Predeceased by great-niece Kelleen Hill.
Dorothy was born and raised as a Meaford girl. She attended Meaford District High School and married a local boy with whom she shared a son, David. She worked for the Amerock Company while raising David and remarried after several years. She then enjoyed a busy life and many travel adventures with husband Fred as long as Fred’s health permitted. Dorothy moved to Maple Meadows in 2008 and enjoyed her life and friends there until April of this year when she moved to Seasons Retirement Community in Owen Sound.
Family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 1, 6 – 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Knox Presbyterian Church, Friday, August 2, at 11 o’clock. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford, to follow the service at the church.
