Obituary: Juniper, Allan Cecil

Allan Cecil Juniper passed away peacefully at the Owen Sound Hospital on October 31, 2026, at the age of 87.

A devoted family man, a talented fixer of all things, a friend to many, and a lover of the simple pleasures in life, Mr. Al will be lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Meaford was home to Allan for 87 years. Born to Cecil and Margaret Juniper, he spent his entire life in the community he loved, building lasting friendships, raising his family, and making memories that would last a lifetime. He was proud to be the fifth generation of Junipers in Canada, carrying on a family legacy that spanned generations.

Much of his working career was spent as Warehouse Manager at Grey Bruce Electric in Owen Sound, where he was known for his hard work, dependability, and practical know-how.

Above all else, Allan cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Verna, and his sons Steven (Josie), David (Kathleen), and Neil (Melissa). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Marc (Carrle), Stefi (Vittorio), Lisa, Alexandria (Dru), Sydney, and Paige, and great-grandfather to Mason and Damian.

He had an endless supply of love and support for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and took immense pride in their accomplishments, big and small. Their happiness was his happiness, and he never missed an opportunity to share their successes.

A true handyman, Al was rarely content to sit still for long. There was always something to tinker with, something to fix, or a project to tackle. He took great pride in building his own home from the ground up, and caring for it meticulously for 55 years, a testament to his skill, determination, and hard work.

His love extended beyond his family to the many creatures who visited his backyard. He took great delight in caring for the squirrels, birds, and chipmunks, diligently filling feeders and setting out peanuts each day. His affection for animals was just as evident in his love for his beloved cats, too numerous to count, and the neighbours’ dogs, whom he happily adopted as his own.

Al also treasured the companionship of friends and the many experiences they shared. Always ready with a story to tell, he enjoyed a good chat, a friendly game of cards, and travelling adventures with Verna and friends.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, resilience, and countless cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Though he may no longer be here to fix what is broken, share a story, or fill the backyard feeders, his love and the many ways he cared for those around him will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He will be forever loved and never forgotten.

Family will receive family and friends for visiting at the Ferguson Funeral Home on Friday, November 6 from 2 until 5 o’clock. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
