Meaford's Pythagoras Masonic Lodge Trustee Chairman Brad Johnston (right) and Master Cameron Rowe present Brian Shannon, Meaford Hospital Foundation Director with a generous cheque in the amount of $10,000. This is the second donation in this amount from the Pythagorus Lodge in the past year.

Low Turnout For Public Budget Meeting at Woodford Hall

Just 19 residents attended a public budget session held at Woodford Hall on Wednesday evening (January 28), barely outnumbering the 16 members of council and municipal staff who had arranged the meeting to present the proposed 2015 municipal budget.

Be Aware of the Prize Pitch Scam

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding residents to be aware of a scam known as the “prize pitch”.  On Wednesday, January 28, a resident in the Municipality of Meaford received a phone call from an unknown caller stating she had won $500,000 in a Reader’s Digest contest for senior citizens.  When she told the caller that she hadn’t entered any contest, she was told that her name was submitted to Reader’s Digest on behalf of Wal-Mart.
