New Grocery Store Owners Hosting a Customer Appreciation Event

After two months of settling in to their ownership of Meaford’s only grocery store, Pina and Kevin Godard say they have enjoyed meeting their new community, and are planning to show their appreciation for the warm welcome and support of Meaford residents with a special event on Saturday, September 3, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

During a recent interview, they told The Independent that the past couple of months have been a whirlwind, but they are excited about their new venture and new community.

The community and the customers have been so welcoming, and our team is A-1, they have been really great with the transition, and very supportive,” Pina shared.

They have relocated their family of five to the Meaford area, and are enjoying settling in to their new community.

Prior to purchasing the Meaford grocery store, both Kevin and Pina worked on the corporate side of the business.

We were in the head office,” Kevin explained. “We started in operations a long time ago, then we were in the head office for about 25 years.” Pina noted that she started on the ground floor as a cashier before moving up in the company.

Their Customer Appreciation Day on September 3 will be an opportunity for the couple to thank the community.

We are really big believers in supporting the local community, so we wanted to reach out to some of the service clubs,” Kevin noted. He explained that the Rotary Club of Meaford will be holding a fundraising barbeque, and customers who visit the store during the event will be able to take advantage of some special sales. “When customers stop in they will get some specials that they can only get that day in our store, and at the same time they can enjoy a barbeque in support of Meaford’s hospital.”

Kevin also noted that there will be raffle prizes, cupcakes, and there will also be local Ontario vendors on hand to offer samples to customers.

The Customer Appreciation Day event will be held rain or shine on Saturday, September 3, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., at the grocery store, and all are invited to visit the store, enjoy some barbeque and cake, and take advantage of some specials that will only be available that day.
