The Georgian Bay Symphony underwent a year-long search for a new conductor during 2023/24 season. Five incredible candidates were invited to audition, wielding the baton for one concert each. It was a massive compliment to the orchestra that so many stellar candidates stepped up, and after an very tough choice, Jeffrey Pollock was offer the coveted position.
The GBS has been going strong for 53 years and is a true cultural treasure in the region. With the 2024/25 season already underway and a Christmas concert on the horizon on December 14, now is the time to come on out to see Pollock in action.
A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory with a Master of Music in Conducting, Jeffrey understands the powerful role an orchestra can play in a community. He is committed to developing a symphony orchestra that reflects the character of its community and will provide leadership through conducting, programming, planning, and community involvement. He will also encourage musicians to express their musical talents and help build relationships with the musicians, donors, audiences, and other musical and educational organizations in the region.
Pollock is “thrilled to become the new Music Director of the GBS,” and is “looking forward to our great performances that lie ahead.”
