Mayor Announces Departure of CAO

Meaford Mayor Ross Kentner read a prepared statement at the beginning of Monday’s council meeting (November 25) announcing that Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kymm Buckham is no longer with the municipality.

The Municipality of Meaford announces the departure of Kymm Buckham, CAO, from the Municipality. During her time, Kymm led the organization and contributed to the organization’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its operations and build momentum for future success,” said Mayor Kentner, reading from the brief statement. “The Municipality of Meaford wishes Kymm well in her future endeavours. During this period of transition, duties will be overseen by the appropriate Directors.”

No additional information was provided about Buckham’s departure, which followed an emergency closed session meeting of council held on Friday afternoon, November 22, lasting two hours.

After a nearly ten-month search, on May 15 of this year Buckham became Meaford’s Chief Administrative Officer, replacing Rob Armstrong who had departed from the municipality on July 31, 2023. Armstrong had served as Meaford’s CAO for five years.

Council will once again be looking for a new CAO, which offers a salary between $150,137 – $182,494, and is the only municipal position which reports directly to council. The CAO is responsible for the overall leadership and administration of municipal operations.
