Into the Wild of Ontario at the Meaford Library

The Meaford Public Library will host photographer and storm chaser David T. Chapman on Thursday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at the Meaford Public Library.

Chapman is self-taught in the art of photography and has been pursuing his career professionally since the age of 18. He learned at a very young age from his father to appreciate his surrounding environment. He enjoys taking photographs and videos of weather phenomena, especially lightning, as well as scenery and nature.

Into the Wild of Ontario has a great mix of exciting subjects covering all levels of the atmosphere. It begins on the edge of space, exploring and discovering the earth’s outer limits. This includes Aurora Borealis, Meteors and Noctilucent Clouds. The images then travel down to ground level with a brief but fun look at the Ontario Trillium flower. To date, Chapman has found multi-petalled Ontario Trilliums, the highest of which had 33 petals. Viewers will then gaze up into Ontario’s deciduous and coniferous trees to observe the natural habitat of many of the most colourful songbirds along with some of the most mysterious – the owls. Finally, the presentation finishes with an in-depth look at examples of the weirdest clouds in our troposphere and how they happen.

This is a free event, however space is limited. Please register at the Meaford Library in advance. For more information, contact the Meaford Library at 519-538-3500 or email libraryinfo@meaford.ca.

This event has been generously sponsored by the Friends of Meaford Library.
