Inter Township Firefighters Recognized for Years of Service

The Municipality of Meaford announced that the Inter Township Fire Department (ITFD) celebrated the 2024 Years of Service Awards on Saturday, September 14. This year’s ceremony honoured a remarkable 90 years of combined service to the communities of the Municipality of Meaford and Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Each year, the ITFD recognizes the exceptional dedication and service of its firefighters, who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of residents within the Meaford and Georgian Bluffs region.

The following firefighters were honoured during the ceremony for their outstanding contributions:

  • 35 Years of Service: Glen McKee
  • 5 Years of Service: Travis Belrose, Jenna Bergeron, Nate Downing, Richard Stackhouse, Jeff Thomson

In addition, Fire Chief Jeff Gautreau received special recognition for his total of 30 years in firefighting, 12 of which have been spent with the ITFD. Chief Gautreau was presented with the First Bar of the Governor General’s Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal, highlighting his leadership and exceptional service over three decades.

“Our firefighters’ dedication and commitment to serving the community are truly inspiring,” said Meaford Fire Chief Courtney Allen. “Their courage and hard work ensure the safety of our residents every day, and we are deeply grateful for their service. I also want to acknowledge the families and support systems of these firefighters, whose support allows them to respond to the call and serve our community.”

The Municipality of Meaford extends its deepest gratitude to these firefighters for their dedication and service to our community.
