The Grey Bruce County Health Coalition has recently formed to advocate for the protection of not-for-profit public healthcare services. They are a grassroots organization working with the non partisan, non-profit Ontario Health Coalition (OHC).
This week, the OHC is announcing a citizen-led referendum, on May 26 & 27, to stop the privatization of public hospitals to for-profit hospitals and clinics.
“The Ford government is ramping up the number and range of surgeries in for-profit clinics. The facts show that privatization is a choice and not a necessity,” suggest organizers.
The ballot question is: Do you want our public hospital services to be privatized to for-profit hospitals ad clinics?
The OHC answer is NO.
The OHC has been hosting town halls in municipalities across Ontario to discuss what privatization means for local hospitals and how to fight back. Watch for an announcement of a town hall, via zoom, in Grey Bruce County.
