Civilians Save Driver After Their Car Goes Into Bay

Members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a vehicle had driven off the harbour into the bay.

At 6:01 pm, on July 29, 2024, the Grey Bruce OPP received a report of a vehicle that had driven into the harbour and was submerged in water. A bystander quickly entered the water with the assistance of other bystanders from the nearby sailing school, and after several attempts to break a window were successful. The lone driver was pulled out of the vehicle and transported to shore.

The 78-year-old driver was observed by EMS with no injuries. The Good Samaritan was also uninjured.
