Scarecrow pirates will be invading Meaford this fall, from mid-September to mid-October, and organizers are hoping you can help make the event more spectacular than ever.
Back by popular demand is the annual Scarecrow Invasion Business Display Competition, with three categories: Indoor Display, Outdoor Display and Window Display. Displays can be put on view as early as September 5. The winner of each category receives a large plaque (kept for one year), plus a smaller permanent plaque to keep for bragging rights.
New this year is a Residential Scarecrow Contest open to residents of the Municipality of Meaford with a chance to win one of two $500 cash prizes. Entries will be accepted from August 28 to September 19, 2023.
The Scarecrow Invasion Team is looking for ways to make scarecrows more environmentally friendly, so one of the prizes will focus on scarecrows that have a reduced environmental impact and are easy to manufacture in large numbers.
Judging for both contests will take place September 19 – 26. Details can be found on the Scarecrow Invasion website (scarecrowinvasion.com), where you can also enter online.
