The village of Bognor will be celebrating Global Earth Day community spirit on Saturday, April 23, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a community-wide artisan market and yard sale. Artisans and vendors from Grey and Bruce Counties and as far east as Stayner will set up booths in and outside of the village’s community centre, and Bognor residents are encouraged to schedule their spring yard sales for that day.
It’s a Spring Thing, Artisan Market & Community-Wide Yard Sale organizers Gabby Cobb and Tricia Gray have been taking registrations from artisans, crafters, and vendors from as far west as Sauble Beach, south to Port Elgin and east to Stayner since mid-March. “We have been promoting them on the event’s social media pages,” Tricia said, “so our followers can see the amazing work of some very talented and local innovators who all reside within our neighbouring communities.
“We are elated with the response so far and invite everyone to follow us on our social media platforms at Facebook: ArtYardMarketBognor; Instagram: art_yard_market_bognor; and Twitter: art_yard_bognor Market.
“With Mother’s Day just two weeks after our event, we are confident there will be something for everyone at this year’s It’s a Spring Thing, Artisan Market & Community-Wide Yard Sale. Visitors can seek out hidden treasures and one-of-a-kind finds, all within our quaint village.”
All of the yard sales in the village will be within four blocks of the community centre, according to Tricia, and not difficult to find. “Bognor is a small village,” she said. “The yard sales will not be hard to find and all registered yard sales will be marked on a map.”
With the idea that April 23 is Earth Day, the organizers are encouraging local residents to host a yard sale. “It’s a great time for all to engage and remind ourselves to help our planet by reducing, reusing, and repurposing. Visitors can park at the hall and walk the four streets and see all of the yard sales. However, residents are asked to register for their yard sale by emailing SpringThingBognor@gmail.com so their location can be placed on a map for visitors to access at the hall throughout the day,” Tricia said.
“Bognor extends beyond our village and includes many rural farms. We would encourage those who reside in the rural areas of Bognor to host their yard sale on the grounds of the community centre, creating easy access for all who visit.”
Proceeds of the artisan market and community-wide yard sale will go toward future renovation projects in the community centre.
