Bluewater District School Board Updates Multi-Year Strategic Plan

The Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) has updated its Multi-Year Strategic Plan, which sets organizational direction over the next few years when it comes to all matters related to student achievement and well-being.

The updated Multi-Year Strategic Plan includes the following new vision and mission statements, along with a set of three priorities and associated goals:

Vision: Always Learning, Learning All Ways

Mission: To provide a quality educational experience for every student in a safe and inclusive environment

Priorities:

Priority 1: Safe Supportive Learning Community

  1. work together to support well-being, equity, and inclusiveness
  2. continue to value students and their voices
  3. engage families and communities to support students and enhance learning
  4. continue progress towards reconciliation with Indigenous peoples

Priority 2: Quality Education

  1. provide engaging and relevant learning experiences
  2. use evidence-informed instructional methods to support competency and skill development in literacy and mathematics
  3. encourage digital citizenship

Priority 3: Aligning Resources for Student Success

  1. align human, technological, and financial resources to maximize operational efficiencies and manage risk
  2. encourage partnerships
  3. promote and support environmental stewardship

As required under the Education Act, each school board in Ontario must create a multi-year plan spanning a minimum of three years. In May 2024, BWDSB trustees voted to initiate a review of the existing Multi-Year Strategic Plan, which included an opportunity for public feedback. The input was then used to assist trustees during their review process with changes incorporated into board policy during late fall.

We are excited to forge a new path with our updated Multi-Year Strategic Plan, which guides our work in supporting students on their learning journey as they navigate the roadmap to growth and success,” said Jane Thomson, BWDSB Chair. “Thank you to the many members of the public who contributed their valuable feedback as we conducted our review. Your voices have helped shape a plan that reflects the educational priorities of our communities in the upcoming years.”

The updated Multi-Year Strategic Plan can be found on BWDSB’s website (https://www.bwdsb.on.ca/about_us/strategic_plan) with new plaque-mounted posters soon to be on display in schools and work sites.
