Blue Mountain Resort Continues Major Snowmaking Investment with Second Phase Completion

Blue Mountain Resort has had a busy summer getting ready for the winter as the team completes the second phase of Blue’s multi-year, multi-million dollar snowmaking infrastructure project. This significant investment further enhances the resort’s ability to provide high-quality snow coverage across its skiable terrain, ensuring optimal conditions for the upcoming winter season.

Throughout the summer, the Mountain Operations team has been upgrading and expanding the resort’s snowmaking capabilities. Key advancements include the installation of additional hydrants, equipment updates and refurbishment refurbishments, expanded flood lines, increased snow gun density, and the integration of industry-leading communication software. Together, these updates will support the Resort’s goal to improve its snowmaking efficiency and overall slope maintenance at Ontario’s largest ski and snowboard destination.

This project is a game changer for our mountain operations,” said Graeme Dugale, vice- president of Mountain Operations at Blue Mountain Resort. “We’ve faced challenging winters over the past two years, but with these new upgrades, we can respond quickly and efficiently to cold weather conditions, opening terrain faster and more consistently for our guests. By improving automation, increasing the intensity of our snow guns, and adding more high temperature guns, we can make more snow.”
