Blue Mountain Resort Announces December 7 as Opening Day of Ski Season

With a drop in temperatures forecast for Ontario, skiers and snowboarders can start counting down to winter as Blue Mountain Resort announces December 7 as their opening day. Ontario’s largest ski and snowboard destination has historically opened in the first two weeks of December on average and the team is putting a stake in the snow to claim December 7 as its first winter season day.

We will plan for the Silver Bullet and beginner terrain open at minimum,” said Graeme Dugale, vice-president of Mountain Operations. “We are ready and excited to have as many slopes open as early as possible thanks in large part to the hard work of our mountain operations teams and our snow-making upgrades.”

The team at Blue began a multi-year, multi-million-dollar snow-making upgrade project in the spring of 2023 with $1.2 million of infrastructure and technology investment ready to increase snow-making efficiency at the Resort for the 23/24 ski season.

All winter lovers who are excited to swap the heat for some hill time can go online and pre-purchase lift tickets now for the upcoming season. Now is the perfect time to purchase a ski season pass as Blue’s 5×7® and Ikon Passes are on sale until October 12.
