The new Meaford Public Library Fundraising Committee has announced that it has recently received two significant donations to the new library building campaign. Two different donors have given $50,000 each for a total of $100,000. This brings the total raised for the new library to over $690,000.
Details about the donors will come at a later date. Their contributions will give the donors the opportunity of naming two rooms in the new library building.
“The Fundraising Committee extends its sincere thanks to these donors. Their support of the new Meaford Public Library is greatly appreciated and the Committee is thrilled to celebrate this exciting milestone in its fundraising efforts,” said the committee.
These two generous donations bring the total raised for the new library building to $690,096.91. This figure means that the goal of $750,000 established by the Fundraising Committee in 2018 is close to fulfillment.
The donation comes as the construction of the new accessible library building has been halted as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Committee looks forward to construction resuming in the near future and still anticipates the opening of the new, accessible Meaford Public Library in 2020.
