The Meaford Public Library has announced that it will host renowned Canadian suspense writer Linwood Barclay for the library’s signature event of the spring season.
The award-winning author will appear at Meaford Hall Opera House at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 23. Barclay will discuss his work as a writer with a special focus on his latest suspense novel Far From True, which will be published by Penguin Random House in March 2016.
Linwood Barclay is an internationally bestselling author of thirteen novels, including Trust Your Eyes, A Tap on the Window, and No Time for Goodbye. Several of his novels have been optioned for television and film, and his books are widely popular around the world. Prior to his career as an award-winning suspense writer, Barclay wrote for the Toronto Star, where he enjoyed a variety of positions including the paper’s humour columnist, and was one of the paper’s most popular columnists.
Barclay’s many suspense thriller novels have enjoyed fantastic reviews. In its review of A Tap on the Window, The Globe and Mail raved, “Barclay’s portrayal of the devastating effect of a son’s death on his loving family is note-perfect. The novel’s minor characters are well developed and deliciously detailed … Linwood Barclay’s many fans will need no encouragement to seek this book out. But if you haven’t discovered him yet, it’s time you did.”
Born in the United States, Barclay has lived in Canada since the age of four. He graduated with a degree in English Literature from Trent University, where he was mentored by both Margaret Laurence and mystery writer Ross Macdonald. He now lives in the Toronto area with his wife and two children.
Barclay is well known as a charming and highly entertaining speaker – this event is not to be missed.
